COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course discusses some traditional and metaphysical problems such as the problem of being, the mind-body problem, realism and nominalism, appearance and reality, universals and particulars, the difference between metaphysical and scientific explanation, substance, freedom, determinism, chance, fatalism, participation, essence and existence, etc. It also discusses the various branches and their subject of metaphysics in ways that show the fundamental connection between metaphysics and other aspects of philosophy.
