INTRODUCTION
In this course, we will discuss techniques / tools for assessing personality. Personality is distinctive and relatively enduring pattern of behaviour. It defines an individual. Understanding of techniques/tools for assessing personality enables evaluation of individual’s characteristics. We will discuss the following personality assessment techniques/tools; Observation, interview, personality inventories and projective techniques. It is important for students of psychology to learn these technique /tools to enable them determine characteristics of their subjects and make informed decisions with regard to their personality.
Learning Objective:
The objective of this course is to enable students evaluate personality using various techniques/tools.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the lessons, students will be able to:
1. Explain the meaning of personality assessment.
2. Explain purpose of personality assessment.
3. Identify techniques / tools for measuring personality, understand their uses and use them in assessing personality.
4. Explain the importance of using eclectic approach in assessment of personality.
5. Identify ways of developing Items on personality Scales and develop a scale for assessing personality.
