This course is both theory and practice oriented. The art and science of constructing and building musical instruments will be taught in this course. Physical properties of musical instruments. Introduction to the care and maintenance of commonly used musical instruments. Musical instruments and the various climatic conditions. The tuning of the pianoforte. The concept and design, tools, materials, storage and maintenance, actual design and the building of original instruments, under the supervision of the instructor, will be realized.
Music Production and Technical Media: Students should be exposed to practical studies in analogue and digital music production in a studio, the process of transmission, and the application of music in media production.
Furthermore, they should be exposed to the use of music notation software like Sibelius, Finale, Noteworthy Composer, MuseScore, etc.
