Spoilage prevention and control of root crops refers to the study of diseases that affect tubers and other root crops, which are an important source of food in many parts of Nigeria and Africa. Several microorganisms, including fungi, bacteria, and viruses, can cause yam tuber diseases, leading to reduced crop yield and poor tuber quality. Effective control measures for these diseases are therefore essential to ensure food security and promote sustainable agriculture.
